Eco-Initiative
Flow, JDL Castle Corporation, Primo Water and Whole Foods Market are proud to sponsor and support RiverRun’s 2011 Eco-Initiative.
RiverRun International Film Festival has always been conscious of the resources used to produce our Festival and strives to minimize its impact on the environment. Developments for the 2011 Eco-Initiative will encompass deepening our commitment to a sustainable approach to RiverRun.
Complimentary Hydration Stations
RiverRun provides free Primo water stations at all screening venues of the Festival and the YWCA shuttle stop, allowing RiverRun patrons opportunities to refill their reusable water bottles and reduce the number of plastic bottles used during the event. We encourage patrons to bring their own re-useable bottles to take advantage of complimentary water or purchase one of RiverRun’s logoed stainless steel bottles.
Recycling Program
Recycling is encouraged throughout RiverRun and each screening venue will be equipped with recycling receptacles for PET bottles, glass and paper waste.
Reducing Waste
At party venues, glassware will be utilized when possible. We will also utilize compostable and biodegradable disposable plastic cups.
Eco-printing for Paper Collateral
Recycled paper and non-toxic, soy-based inks are used exclusively for the 20,000 RiverRun Program Books and Brochures.
Sustainable Merchandise
RiverRun is now creating a variety of eco-merchandise, such as USA-made 100% organic cotton t-shirts, recyclable stainless steel water bottles and 100% organic cotton tote bags that are hand made in the U.S.A.
