The Awards are in!

The festival is a wrap and the awards have been announced...see below for a full list of the winners.  Thanks again to everyone for making this year's Festival such a smashing success, and keep checking back in the coming days for more news!

Audience Awards

Showtime

It's hard to believe it's been an entire year since we got the RiverRun amps cranked up to 11 for the festival, but we're so excited that another go-round is finally upon us.  There are so many amazing films we've been dying to share with you all!  Tonight's opening night screening of One Night Stand is sure to leave a grin on your face, and it's the first time in a few years that we've been fortunate enough to have the filmmakers in town for opening night!

Each year we do our best to keep you all abreast of the fantastic slate of special guests due to be in Winston-Salem for the festival, and we're thrilled to see that the list is even longer and more exciting than ever before!  Thanks to the tremendous generosity of our gracious sponsors and donors, we're able to bring in some of the top-notch talent associated with the films in the RiverRun program, as well as a group of extremely impressive jurors and presenters, to make your festival experience all the more special.

Five things you didn't know about... Xan Aranda

In the coming weeks, we'll be giving you a little extra information about some of the filmmakers who will be in Winston-Salem for the Festival; starting with the director of Andrew Bird: Fever Year, Xan Aranda. Here are five things you might not know about the real Xan:
1) Xan began studying violin in the Suzuki Method at age six, just a few towns away from where Andrew Bird also studied violin in the same Suzuki Method. They met 20 years later.

RiverRun announces new Spark Award for 2012!

This year, for the first time ever, we decided to highlight three promising artists whose careers are electrifying audiences in all spheres of the motion picture world to be the inaugural recipients of RiverRun’s new 2012 Spark Award.

RiverRun Goes Out of This World in 2012

RiverRun announces the the 2012 genre spotlight: Science Fiction favorites of the 60s and 70s. The following movies were selected to highlight seminal works of science fiction film, specifically pre-Star Wars. The 2012 films are:

2012 Ambassador Program Kicks-Off

Let the Tweeting and texting begin! Students taking part in the 2012 RiverRun International Film Festival Ambassador Program socialized at 6th and Vine Tuesday, February 28, to show their enthusiasm for the upcoming festival. More than 20 students representing Wake Forest University, High Point University, UNC-Greensboro, North Carolina A&T, Guilford College, UNCSA and Glen High school will use their social media skills to help promote this year's films. The program is an exciting way to market RiverRun to a younger demographic.
