Synopsis
In this incredibly personal film, director and subject Ofra Bloch, a Jerusalem-born trauma expert, forces herself to confront her demons in a journey that takes her to Germany to meet children of the same Nazis that imprisoned her family. Then to Israel and Palestine to delve into the painful history and current situation between the two countries and try to understand a narrative she has been told her whole life. Set against the current wave of fascism and anti-Semitism sweeping the globe, Afterward addresses the secret wounds carried by victims as well as victimizers, through testimonies ranging from the horrifying to the hopeful.
